Firstly, thank you for coming all the way to Zakynthos to celebrate with us.
We know it’s a journey for many of you – flights, hotels, time away from work and, for some, travelling halfway across the world. It means a lot to us that you’re making the trip.
But we also hope that once you arrive, you’ll understand why we wanted you to come here.
You’ll wake up to the sound of cicadas. You’ll drive past olive groves filled with trees that look like they have been there forever. The countryside is rustic and wonderfully unpolished, and life moves at a completely different pace.
And then there’s the sea.
The water is clear and blue. We hope you’ll swim every day: in little coves, off the rocks, from a boat, wherever you happen to find yourselves.
June is also one of our favourite times to be here. It’s summer, but before the intense heat of July and August. And for our Singapore friends: yes, it will be warm, but without that relentless humidity. Evenings are particularly lovely once the sun starts to soften.
More than anything, we want you to settle into the rhythm of island life for a few days.
Swim in the morning. Take your time over lunch. Have a nap. Go out again after seven. Order another bottle of wine. Sit somewhere longer than you intended. Don’t rush.
The wedding is what is bringing everyone together, but we hope Zakynthos becomes part of the celebration too. And hopefully leave understanding why we love being here so much.
The thought of having all of you together, on this island, for a few days is incredibly special to us.
We can’t wait to share it with you.
Artemis & Belinda
